Eyeo 2022: How We Survived
A conversation about alternative ways to practice that people found during the pandemic with Agyei Archer, Pinar Demirdag and Matt Kenyon. Moderated by Jer Thorp.

WOLF AT THE DOOR: HOUSING, OIL, GAS AND GUNS
| Matt Kenyon at Eyeo 2022 |

Matt talks about Wolf at the Door, a collection of Kenyon's recent works, many of which reflect upon and critique the language of market forces, and the way banks and corporations leave individual human experience out of the metaphors they use.

Wolf at the Door asks what euphemisms like a debt waterfall, an untapped resource, or a key investment would look like if they reflected the human stories they have unleashed. These works function as centerpieces for a series of long-term community centered conversations about how we got into this situation and what, if anything, we are willing to learn.

In 2023, I was invited by the 4D department to give a talk at Cranbrook Academy of Art.

My work will be featured in OIL. Beauty and Horror in the Petrol Age at the The Kunstmuseum Wolfsburg, September 4 2021

The exhibition Oil. Beauty and Horror in the Petrol Age therefore takes a speculative, poetic look back at the presence of the modern age of petroleum, which has lasted for roughly one hundred years. From the distance of a hypothetical future, we ask what was typical of our time, what was great and beautiful, what was ugly and terrible, and how all this is reflected in art and culture.

My work will be featured in the WRO Biennale 2021: REVERSO May 2021.

The WRO Media Art Biennale is the major forum for new media art in Poland, and one of the leading international art events in Central Europe. Since its inception in 1989, WRO has been presenting art forms created using new media for artistic expression and communication, exploring current creative territories and building a critical perspective toward emerging issues in art, technology and society.

WEB-EXTRACTION-Cover-Final.jpg

My work will be featured in Extraction: Art on the Edge of the Abyss at the Gregory Allicar Museum of Art. July 2021.

The Extraction Project is a global coalition of artists and creators — a multimedia, cross-borders art intervention investigating the extractive industry in all its forms.
